I’m Åsa Deleau Wiklund, the creator of this course. I’ve been working with MidJourney daily since January 2023 – which, in the fast-moving AI world, feels like a lifetime! I can honestly say it’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me, and now I’m excited to share it with you.

The idea that AI-generated images “aren’t real art” or that it’s “just about typing a prompt” couldn’t be further from the truth. Crafting a great prompt is an art form in itself. And as you create, MidJourney actually learns your style. You can even build moodboards with your own photos and artwork to develop a completely unique look – one that no one else can replicate without your references, settings, words, and image history. You’re in charge of everything: the medium, whether it’s a charcoal sketch, side-lit photograph, wood sculpture, or a cinematic shot from any angle you choose.

I’ve always been creative – drawing for as long as I can remember and photographing every day since I was 13. In 2003, I started my business as a portrait photographer. Since then, I’ve photographed over 500 weddings and thousands of portraits and family sessions! Studio lighting has become second nature to me, and over the years I’ve been honored with many awards for my work, including becoming Swedish Champion in the national Photography Championships (SM) in 2016.

With MidJourney, a whole new world opened up. I can now create freely, without limits of time or space. It’s allowed me to expand my photography into what I call my “digital studio” – giving me yet another way to bring ideas to life.

People will always value real photographs and artworks – and those pieces may even increase in value because of the craftsmanship behind them. But being able to create with AI offers us an extra tool to stretch our creative horizons and even discover new ways to make a living from our art.
